About 3 years ago we bought our bed. It was our first bed after moving in together, and as students on a budget Ikea was a given choice. Out of the different options I preferred the Lillesand bed, but I never really liked the footboard. Ever since then I have been thinking about cutting it off and hinting to Andreas that it would be a good idea. It has taken 3 years but when I came back from my trip to Sweden he had done it!
As I wasn’t there I can’t give you any detailed DIY description, but he said it was really easy and all he used was an angle grinder to cut off the metal posts. Then I just bought a bed skirt from H&M and I’m really pleased with the results. I can’t help but think of a quote a friend of mine posted on facebook a few days ago “If a man says he will fix it, he will. There is no need to remind him every 6 months about it.” ;)
The other project I am working on is to get some frames for the nice posters I’ve collected but haven’t managed to put up yet. I am finding it really hard to decide what colour frame I want over the bed. Decisions, decisions… :)
